WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE DISCHARGE FROM YOUR EYES,

When you have pus discharge from your eyes? You do the following:

1. Avoid touching the discharge with your hand or wiping with your handkerchief.

2. Use disposable wipes instead.

3. Ensure that your beddings are washed regularly, and soaked in antiseptic

4. Avoid sharing personal effects.

5. See your Optometrist.

PATHOLOGICAL CONDITION THAT CAN  CAUSE LOW VISION

The following are some of the major  pathological conditions that can result in low vision:

Cataract

Glaucoma

Retinitis pigmentosa

Age related macular degeneration

SWOLLEN EYE

Swollen eyes is one of the common  sign of several eye conditions and they include:

Infections.

Inflammation.

Allergies.

Fluid retention

From time immemorial, occupational vision hazard has found deep roots amongst the work force of mankind.

Since Working Is one aspect of human life that cannot be ignored no matter the risk involved, structures have been put in place to mitigate these hazards.

This is what occupational vision optometry is all about. The workspace and the worker.

Normally an employer is supposed to engage the services of an occupational vision Optometrist periodically. An occupational vision Optometrist will have to assess the work space citing out the dangers inherent there in, provide safety gadgets for the workers and periodically examine the visual system and structure of the workers.

The above will give assurance of a safe space for both employers an employees.

DACRYOCYSTITIS

This is an infection of the lacrimal sac, secondary to blockage of the nasolacrimal duct.

Tear drainage system helps to drain tears out of the eyes, but when it gets blocked, there is stagnancy of the tears in the lacrimal sac.

Over time this tear pool becomes infected and in turn causes infection of the lacrimal sac.

Signs and symptoms includes pain, fever, swollen eyes, discharge, et.c

Treating this condition requires an expert combination of steroids and antibiotics medication. Once the infection and pains have subsided, puncta piercing is required to ensure that there’s no blockage in the drainage system.

SPORTS AND YOUR VISION.

Vision is a very crucial element when it comes to sport. Talent and hardwork will amount to nothing without razor sharp vision.

When we say vision, we are not just talking about object perception alone, elements of vision that are crucial for sports includes good eye hand coordination, sharp reflexes, very good balance, depth perception,  good contrast sensitivity, very excellent dynamic visual acuity.

Any one lacking in any of the above elements of sports vision will struggle will sports.
