Distichiasis
Distichiasis is a rare condition where:
- Extra eyelashes grow from the meibomian glands or other abnormal locations
- These extra lashes can rub against the cornea, causing discomfort and vision problems
Symptoms
- Eye irritation: Redness, itching, and discomfort
- Corneal damage: Scratching or ulcers
- Vision problems: Blurred vision or discomfort
Treatment
- Epilation: Removing the extra lashes
- Electrolysis: Permanent removal of extra lashes
- Cryotherapy: Freezing the hair follicles to prevent regrowth
