GLAUCOMA TREATMENT

Glaucoma has no cure. But however it can be managed effectively to preserve vision.

The cause of glaucoma remains unknown. Hence treatment  borders around intraocular pressure reduction and protection of the optic nerves.

Reducing intraocular pressure basically involves reducing production of aqueous humor and or increasing outflow of aqueous humor. These are achieved with the use of systemic and topical medications ( eyedrops and tablets).

Protection of the optic nerve involves moping free radicals that sucks up all the Oxygen needed by the optic nerve. Use of antioxidants  helps mop up free radicals and oxygen ions.
