Glaucoma can be classified based on etiology and based on anterior chamber angle depth.
Based on Etiology glaucoma is classified into
- Primary glaucoma – glaucoma that has no known cause.
- Secondary glaucoma – glaucoma with obvious causes and they are of different types and they are: a. Drug induced glaucoma b. Congenital glaucoma. c. Glaucoma secondary to trauma. d. Glaucoma due to inflammation
Based on anterior chamber angle depth, glaucoma can be classified into
- Open angle glaucoma.
- Close Angle glaucoma
Other types of glaucoma includes normal tension glaucoma and pigmentary Glaucoma.
