Trachoma
Trachoma is a:
- Bacterial infection (Chlamydia trachomatis) affecting the eyes

Symptoms
- Eye irritation: Redness, itching, discharge
- Follicles: On the underside of the upper eyelid
- Scarring: Can lead to vision loss and blindness
Transmission
- Direct contact: With infected eye discharge
- Indirect contact: Through contaminated objects or flies
Prevention

- Antibiotics: Mass treatment in endemic areas
Treatment
- Antibiotics: Azithromycin or tetracycline
- Surgery: To correct eyelid deformities or trichiasis (eyelashes rubbing against the cornea)
